2021 will certainly stand out as one of the most unique in Tommy’s 52 years of operation. Tommy’s Express Car Wash experienced record-setting growth while Tommy Car Wash Systems launched new detergent products, new wash equipment, and a myriad of technological updates and products to improve our ability to serve our clients and guests. Here’s a highlight of what we accomplished in 2021.

Tommy’s Express Car Wash Franchise Growth

Tommy’s Express Car Wash opened approximately 50 additional locations this year, bringing the total number of Tommy’s Express Car Wash locations in operation to nearly 100 across the United States with over an additional 300 more in development. This year Tommy’s also awarded 22 new franchise partners that will account for 115 new locations around the country. You can now find a Tommy’s Express Car Wash in over 30 states. On top of that, the Tommy’s Express team was also able to impact over 7500 lives through Water Mission.

A Recognized Franchise & Car Wash Industry Leader

Tommy’s Express Car Wash earned multiple recognitions for excellence and growth in the franchise and car wash industries.

    • Franchise Times ranked Tommy’s Express #2 Smartest Growing Franchise.
    • Tommy’s Express ranked #1 in the car-wash services category in Entrepreneur Magazine’s Franchise 500® for 2021 and ranked #30 on the Top New Franchises list. The Franchise 500® is one of the most comprehensive, well-respected, and widely referenced guides to franchises.
    • Tommy’s is included in the Franchise Times Top 400 list, ranking #339, up 140 spots over last year.
    • Tommy’s Express ranked 5th largest car wash chain this year at 100 locations, up from 7th last year in Professional Car Washing & Detailing’s annual Top 50 list of the 50 biggest conveyor car wash brands.
Tommy Car Wash Systems Delivers Innovation

Tommy Car Wash Systems launched many new innovations and solutions to help car washes become even more successful. This included major software updates, new equipment designs, and detergent product launches that clearly show Tommy Car Wash Systems is the innovation leader in the car wash industry. The many innovations include:

    • New “Triple Threat®” deep-cleaning wash equipment.
    • Energy-efficient and extremely powerful new vacuum design.
    • Industry-leading license plate, make and model recognizing software.
    • An all-new APP experience for Tommy’s Express.
Tommy’s is Ready for 2022

In July we broke ground on our new Tommy’s Headquarters in Holland, Michigan. The new HQ will include nearly 300,000 square feet of office, manufacturing, detergent blending, and warehouse space, allowing Tommy’s to consolidate our office, production, and manufacturing operations into one location. We anticipate moving into the building in the Fall of this year.

Tommy’s Express is aggressively preparing to open approximately 100 additional locations in 2022, including our first international sites. To support this growth, Tommy’s Express will begin opening Regional Support Centers that aim to put resources and supplies closer to retail sites to provide better service and technical support where it’s needed most in anticipation of hitting 500 locations.
